Primrose Hill Manor
The History of the Janetville Mansion
Although I may no longer call Primrose Hill Manor my home, she will forever hold a piece of my heart. Her walls witnessed countless hours of restoration, her gardens became my sanctuary, and her history became my inspiration.
Built in 1885, this Italianate Victorian home in the rural village of Janetville, Ontario, began as a doctor’s residence and has since become a beloved landmark. Primrose Hill Manor is more than just a house—it’s a testament to resilience, beauty, and history, admired by all who encounter its timeless charm.
I am thrilled to share Primrose Hill Manor: The History of the Janetville Mansion, a book created in collaboration with the incredibly talented Sara Walker Howe. Together, we’ve poured our passion and expertise into bringing the story of this remarkable home to life. While I provided the personal connection to its restoration, Sara’s creative direction and attention to detail shaped this into a beautifully crafted coffee table book.
This book is more than a chronicle of a home—it’s a celebration of history, craftsmanship, and preservation. It marks a milestone in our shared journey of honouring the past and inspiring a future where heritage homes are cherished and protected.
We’re delighted to invite you to explore this story with us. Primrose Hill Manor: The History of the Janetville Mansion is now available through Amazon, Bannister Press, and the Kawartha Lakes Museum and Archives.

Farewell to Primrose Hill Manor
